SCUBA DIVING in Tetiaroa
Tetiaroa is a small secluded atoll located 30 miles north of Tahiti. It’s the only atoll of the Windward Islands — Tetiaroa is comprised of 13 motus (islets) covered with coconut trees, and enclosed by coral reef. The diameter of the atoll is 4.5-miles and has no channels. Tetiaroa was the former island retreat of Tahitian Kings and in 1966 was acquired by Marlon Brando. Today, his dream of a self-sustaining resort has been realized with the opening of the Brando Resort. This luxury eco-resort with just 35 villas has set a new world standard as it is carbon neutral and close to self-sustaining!
The atoll of Tetiaroa is a sanctuary of biodiversity in the South Pacific. While diving, you’ll encounter many colorful fish including triggerfish, parrotfish and surgeonfish. You’ll also see big fish that frequent the external slope of the reef including white tip sharks, grey sharks, spotted eagle rays, turtles and dogtooth tuna.
